Nature of the Problem...
Both individuals and organizations find themselves in complex and confusing times. The pace of change & unpredictability is increasing. All stakeholders have higher expectations; owners, customers, and employees all demand more. However, In the face of increased expectations and change, job satisfaction continues to decrease (50% of America's workforce dislike what they do). The place where we spend the most time provides the least satisfaction.
Our system of work is heading for a fall. It is impossible to increase demands while decreasing the motivation of those meeting those demands, without eventual collapse.
- A company can become so driven by the market that it is willing to do anything. In so doing, it stands for nothing.
- A company can become so driven by the market that it feels responsible for overwhelming expectation. In so doing, it mires itself with confusion and de-motivation.
The problem is complex and the volume of solutions can be as confusing as the problems themselves. Complex problems do not require complex solutions, they require simple ones.

Nature of the Solution...
Why look to nature for answers?
First, nature is the perfect model of complexity and unpredictability, yet within it, life endures and thrives. Nature is a wonder of success and sustainability.
Second, the principles of nature are easily understood and available to us. Any principle governing an organization must be understood by everyone. Unlike statistics, six sigma, or complex organizational theory, principles of nature resonate with the masses.
Third, evidence is growing that principles of nature apply to the human dilemma. The study of Complex Adaptive Systems (how living things thrive in complex environments) is finding answers and applications in many threads of our society, business included.
Our company relies on the evidence and accessibility of natural law as the basis of our work with individuals & organizations.
The Nature of Business is a coaching company that uses principles of nature to unearth the passion and potential of business organizations and the people who lead them.
